James Whitcomb Riley used to write for an appreciative audience. It still has some room for improvement but is lovely. Dealing with the moral question of the imperfections in our pet, our lovers, our family and our society is a nice place for our poetry to focus. I would suggest reworking these two lines,"but my life she does enrich/ and her I would not switch".
I have a calico also who just walked in one day and has been here for years. You have painted a loving picture of your cat and of yourself!
