What a load

of reactionary drivel.

An interesting piece

I didn't find this to be drivel in the slightest degree and I thought it was well-argued and that it handled a very thorny subject well. If anything, it was a little drier and more clinical than it might have been but it was, nonetheless, very thought-provoking.

Thank you.

Men and women are different

We were aware of that, vaguely or more. You give 45 reasons for denying the difference, which we dutifully read, to learn that denial of difference is all you have to say. What is this fixed, implacable difference we deny? Some social/cultural difference are strewn about, but you dare not define or describe a single basic emotional tied to biological difference between male and female. Some odd approach to scholarship I suppose.

I'm trying to figure out who you hate more: women or gay men?

I have so many reactions to this I hardly know where to begin. But I suppose I will just start with myself. I do not hate men. I love men wholeheartedly and I love them precisely because they are so different from women (and this includes gay men, who I assure you still think like men though their sexual preferences are hard wired for cock vs. cunt). I also love sex, with or without emotional attachment. Yes, women are capable of being a "fuck-buddy"...and in my experience, sometimes it's the men who can't handle this arrangement, due to their territorial nature. (All part of why I love them!) I assure you that I think about sex as often as a good many men, though I concede I probably do think about it differently.

Where differences are concerned, I agree with you that "same" is not "equal." I agree that in our attempt to level the playing field in a good many necessary ways we have overshot as a society. But I hardly think our society hates men - we're still a male-dominated society, after all, so that would mean men hate themselves. If anything, I'd say society seems to fear women more than ever, casting them as deceitful temptresses who despise sex but use it as a farmer's wife of days past might have used a cleaver on a live chicken - distastefully, but with purpose. And I'm afraid your essay suggests that you buy into such nonsense, which is unfortunate indeed, if only because you will never with that attitude lie in the arms of a woman who respects your masculinity with every fiber of her being and does not wish to exert power over you but does want to fuck your brains out.

More?

You might approach it from the standpoint of what exactly are the differences.

Equally there are wide differences among women and men. So it's complicated.

As the social conservatives push to role back birth control and abortion, and on to men's control over women, it's hard to say social equality isn't the worthy goa

Well...

Perception is everything... isn't it?

Funny. I have the urge, now, to see Brecht's "The Threepenny Opera". Hmmm.

I'll give you "thought provoking" that's for sure. ;)

Good list

>Men who use their status in a given sphere to obtain sex would like to think that [the] women [that partake in this exchange with them] are attracted to more than their success. They can convince themselves, if they deny difference.

This also suggested its inverse to me:

Women who use their sex to obtain power in a given sphere (usually to obtain love) would like to think that (the) men (that partake in this exchange with them) are attracted to more than their bodies. They can convince themselves, if they deny difference.

There is no word limit to comments

To the illiterate losers saying this is drivel, fucking make your counter argument instead of burying your head in the sand like a moron. if you disagree with something, say why you disagree, you know, use that muscle between your ears before it atrophies

We r headed toward a gynarchy. Male life expectancy has slipped ten percent in 100 years. Male suicid rates are going up. Suicide rates for boys vs girls are astoundingly high as sexual roles are defined in youth. Feminist continue to push back against simple things like mandatory DNA testing at birth. Women can still lie about being on the pill and suffer no penalty while the male has no say in either child support or abortion decisions, literally no voice. Family court still defaults to female custody at no expense while a man must spend untold thousands to establish a level field. Females with equal pay and status still expect man to pay for dinner in 90 percent of dinner checks, according to a nationwide study of servers, hostesses, managers and restaurant maitre' d. Men still must initiate social interaction, even though in today's environs, that could be career threatening, while cosmopolitan magazine runs articles for women on how to passively flirt in the workplace, passively being code for, without consequence it goes on and on
