Hi, desertslave here. I AM female, and remember my youthful sexual activities quite well. I was actively fingered (and even used small tampons) before actually "losing my virginity." If you do ANY actual research on the subject, you might learn that the hymen's structure is variable among women, and may attach nearly externally OR be set within the vagina somewhat. As girls reach puberty it also becomes thinner and more elastic so that marginal penetration is quite possible. I looked around the web for something in simple terms.
