Well Written, Nice Style!

Believable every step of the way, human nature with unique personalities can be wonderful and you portrayed them here very well. The good, the bad and the almost ugly that turned around for the better.

Keep them coming!

Lovely!

Welcome back! I get so excited when I see your name in the new stories section. Glad to have you back! It's a shame to be without your talent for such a long a time, and you better believe I read both of your new stories (5's for both). This story was absolutely sweet. The interaction with his family was a riot. I would have loved for you to have expanded on that a little more, but make no mistake they way that you weaved your tale was beautiful and hot as hell.

Thank you from silver766

Great love story

Normally I don't read more than two pages but this was really worth it.

Interesting story, but.... the main character is an idiot....

Not for the two years, not for traveling, not for what most would say....

He slept with a woman whose engaged... and now at the end that seems to be the path the author is heading down....

Sorry any guy stupid enough to sleep with an engaged woman, and then pursue a relationship with her deserves what he gets when she later fucks someone else and tells him "we did it, so what does it matter"....

I simply see this as the opener for a loving wives part two lol.

Awesomely genuine.

I loved the family dynamic - perfectly handled.

The storyline was well done, and the characters well developed - in spite of themselves!

As the page 4 started it has been anticipated Olivia would be making a sudden appearance. A very good story narrated very well. Hope the same trend is put in the author's other works as well - yet to be read.

It doesnt have perfect characters. The family dynamics are well projected.

And it's not drawn out. The author knows where there's a need for elaboration and where to stop.

WHAT A CRACKING GOOD STORY

sometimes you just have to follow your heart and do what you have to do and he did just that but could so easily have blown it by leaving her like that.....fortunately she realised she needed him too and followed her heart....the banter between the family was funny but all's well that ends well...loved it a heart warming story of love conquering all......

Flames can be rekindled

It was only two years since they were together last. Their shared memories and 'what could have been' between these two finally caught flame and made a wonderful romantic story. Boy loves girl--boy loses girl--boy gets girl again. It doesn't get any better than that.

Thanks for posting.

THE YEARS GO PAST

and then you are in your 60s. TK U MLJ LV NV

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 8 years ago
Not my cup of tea.

1. The family was nosy and annoying as fuck.

2. He wasn't even bothered by the fact that she was still engaged to someone else before having sex with her and then...

3. ... he bailed on her like the coward he is.

What really gets my goat is the general vibe that cheating is okay as long as you're not the one on the receiving end.

There are far better stories than this that deserve to be in the hall of fame.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 8 years ago

Two years after for me as well

I haven't read this for quite a while. Don't know if it's two years but it's been a long time. I have had health issues and am feeling all my years but I would wake up thinking of Olivia waking up to find him gone. Needs some editing but the story idea is strong and I really enjoy finding it again. It's hard to locate stories from a long time ago. I didn't remember the author. I'm sorry. I like several of your stories. This was a pleasure to read again and again. Thanks for writing it and feeling the way you did. Glad you were able to let me share.

Good author, bad story.

Ugh...I hate romances where a fiance is cheated on and dumped but were NOT supposed to hate the character that did it. Really don't get why it is so prevalent in the genre. It's not really a story they are going to be able to tell their grandkids.

The fact that none of his family had an issue with it(including his married brother and his sister who had been dropped cold by her husband) just seemed weird. I kept expecting someone to say, "Hey do we really want out beloved baby brother to get involved with a woman who would sleep with another guy when she's engaged?"

I've enjoyed other works by the author, but this one was a definite miss for me.

DAMN I love this story. The guy gets shot down, in flames, crashes and burns. But then, like the Phoenix he rises up out of his own ashes, and ends up getting the girl after all. The love of his life. If that’s not romantic I don’t know what is. The same thing happened to me once. All except for the part about rising from the ashes and getting the girl. I guess the ashes of my first true love are still mingled with the dust in the high desert of southeastern New Mexico. Ah, well. Can’t win ‘em all. Thanks, JoeDreamer, for a great story.

What an annoying, nosey, bunch of busybodies

Family or not, I wouldn't want to live within 100 miles of them. N and O will never have a moments peace as people who think they should have some sort of control over their lives butt in whenever they feel the urge. God forbid he ever tell one of them something he didn't want them all to know. Uggh, Arlene's the only smart one.

One of the best stories I have read in a long time ( and for the third time in a row, now).

I think this may be the place where I go when ever I seem to be having a really bad day.

I see myself as Neil. Well intended; but a little clumsy in the sweet Art of Love.

I really appreciate it when the Neil types come out with a second chance and a rosy future.

Please keep writing!

Rancher46Rancher46about 3 years ago

As I reread this wonderful love story for the second time it was so much better than the first. The story was well written and had a storyline that just drew you in, the characters just came alive and put you in the middle of each character interaction as they appeared in the story. Even though every indication in this story portrays a happily ever after, a 2nd chapter about that would be wonderful. 5+++ stars again

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 3 years ago

It's a great story and I have read it twice. Definitely a five star 🌟👍🌟👍🌟👍🌟👍🌟👍

As humans we reserve the right to cause massive fuckaroos then again we also get to chase our other halves down to make things right. I did too so I guess the take away note for me is to chase my wife down and make up when she is clearly upset and wants some time to herself and might scream my head off, so to us guys I say chase that girl like she is the golden goat, deer or whatever the heck you think she is....

Maggie was such a bitch, basically telling him that everything he did was wrong.

Quite frankly the only thing he did wrong was to not move on after sleeping with Olivia. She was awfully quick to cheat on her fiance. Not particularly trustworthy.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 3 years ago

great story, fewer grammatical errors than First Love, Last love

Antryg_WindroseAntryg_Windrosealmost 3 years ago

re: Olivia cheating on her fiance: She cast aside the fancy ring before fucking Neil, so the engagement to the doctor she didn't really love was kaput as of that moment - doc just didn't know it yet. Let's hope Olivia doesn't meet a more compelling lover later.

A minor unresolved point is where N&O will cohabit. Do they stay near Neil's family business, or Olivia's current, distant hospital?

To quote a well known film, “He’s a Schmuck”, turning up out of the blue, without a letter, a Christmas/Birthday card, an email, a text or a phone call for 2yrs and you want to pick up where you left off and expect a woman to still love you? Nonsensical and unreal.

great story way to short five

a_reader_from_germanya_reader_from_germanyalmost 2 years ago

First of all: I like the stoy. Secondly, the reader can learn from it how many of us are affected by some omnipresent cliches not all of which are true in the generalizing way they are often presented. So lets start with the truth that almost everyone advertises emancipation, but mostly in a one sided fashion. If we are to be equal, we should have equal rights, equal obligations and take equal responsibility for our behaviour in the wider sense (so including our verbal communication).

If you judge the main characters keeping the mentioned principles of justice and fairness in mind it's quite ridiculous to heap all the guilt on the guy, especially considering the notion how women generally are more socially intelligent than men. Still, not just in this story, women are more often free to make decision that hardly prove their superiority, without being admonished about it, while men are always chided for their percieved mistakes and shortcomings.

This is not only showing in the way the main characters are judged, but continues with the role the sisters of the main chatacter play. So his older sister chose an asshole as her partner and gets abandoned by him, but still she is the expert, the judge, the referee when it comes to relationships? Bad enough if it is that way in reality. If the "hero" of this tale should have asked somebody for help it was his mom. Quite late in the story Neil even admits to himself that she is the most clever of the lot.

And that's where all of this leads me to. As long as the survival of the family was the most important task of most women, many, not all of them, had superior skills to keep a small group together as a social unit, functioning with as little friction as possible. Of cause a number of men had tasks like leading military units, work groups, political organizations, but the goals and the methods are different.

However, in recent western civilisation the differences in the field of social intelligence are more and more leveling out. I'm not judging, it's just a matter of fact. Many women are career oriented just the same as men, and while there are changes in the social dynamics of working environments, it remains a somewhat different thing than not managing, but lovingly developing a family. There's also much less time left of course to learn from the previous generation and to hone and apply those skills.

My main point remains that a true emancipation can't be a mostly one sided event in the long run. If you want equality both sides will have to part from privileges that were the result of the old ways. Women did and do have privileges, just like men had others, and some people seem to be hell bend on not only keeping them alive, but also on exploiting them for political purposes.

So back to the story, it was the guy who was the romantic, he believed not only in the depth of their relationship, but also in the importance of building a life based on love. He is the one initiating the contact. In a situation like the one described, there is no perfect way to handle things, and if the feelings are mutual and on a comparable level, it shouldn't be an annoyance for the woman to put in some effort too and to realize that she "screwed up" in the past as well as the guy had, if not worse. Without acknowledgement of her own mistakes and responsibilities she will always be the entitled one in the relationship, entitled to make mistakes without consequences, entitled to be demanding devotion and creativity from the partner without investing much herself and so on.

Too great a suspension of disbelief is required: residencies take four or more years, not two - she can't just drop what she's been doing - and she would have been thinking about that on the plan flight

AnonymousAnonymousover 1 year ago

Feeling like one person during a shared orgasm isn't unusual, but that early in their relationship is implausible. It takes a while to become "one flesh"... and that assumes both partners want that. My ex didn't.. I won't speculate as to why, beyond observing that she's an ex.

Amazingly almost all humans are limited by their life experiences. If they have not experienced it or at least have reputable information, it seems impossible. 50+ years as a counselor has taught me all sorts of things ae possible. The author wrote an incredible story. It is fiction, but it is very believable. Well done.
