Get some kind of grammar/writing book and read and LEARN the uses of commas in a sentence to make it clearer. Examples:

"If Lance wanted to speak with me, [comma] he would tell Clayton to give me the phone."

This gives a minute pause to clarify and separate the first part from the second part of the sentence.

I suggest:
