Hi Everyone -
We have been getting an increasing number of people writing to us about popups and redirects on Literotica and other popular websites. First, please understand that Literotica has never used popup advertising, nor have we ever redirected users to another site. We have no plans to start doing that anytime soon, rest assured.
The problems are being caused by nasty programs installed on the computers of the people having the problems. There are a bunch of parasite programs that cause popups and redirects when there shouldn't be any. There are also a growing number of programs designed to get rid of the evil programs hijacking your browser.
Popups:
If you are getting popups on Literotica (or other sites where you know they shouldn't be), please visit Dox Desk's browser scanner. It will check your browser and tell you if it finds any problems. If there are problems, they will suggest ways to get rid of them.
Redirection Problems:
In the last few weeks, the number of reports of people being redirected away from Literotica to some other site has been increasing. This is usually done by some script modifying your computer's "hosts" file. The violated hosts files we have seen list many of the big adult sites on the web. When you try to visit one of the sites on the list, you can't access it and instead you are sent to some other site with a million ads.
There best ways that we have found to deal with the sneaky redirections are to read this article and to download this free software. The article and program seem to help most people solve the redirection problem. If it doesn't solve your problem, please post more details here in the forum and we will see what we can do to help you get these issues resolved.
We are as annoyed as you at the parasitic programs out there causing mayhem with browsers. It would be nice if there was some way for us to stop this from happening, but the problem has to be dealt with on the computers where the software is installed.
