Buying Toys Online

My questions are for those who have purchased toys off of the site here on Lit.
1. Compared to prices at your local sex shop, how would you say they are?
I went online to a local shop and found the prices there were more than on Lit.

2. How easy was it to order?

3. How long did delivery take and was in delivered in a plain brown package, with nothing to indicate where it was from?
The reason for both of these questions are 1; I am flying over the big pond in about 8 weeks to be with MY-Sir, and want to have my artillery ready. And the reason for the second part of my question is; as I know my mail carrier I want no sly looks from her.

4.On the statement from your credit card company, what company was it charged to?
Again, I want nothing to indicate that I've been shopping at a sex toy shop.
Your answers are welcomed as I am in a quandry about whether to buy online or visit the store in person.

I've purchased toys here at Lit twice. Both orders were for multiple items, averaging about 5 items each order. To answer your questions:

1. Compared to prices at your local sex shop, how would you say they are?

I really can't say, as I've never been in a sex shop anywhere. Yes, I admit it - I'm too shy! But, I do know that I've compared items online, and Lit was cheaper most of the time. Some high end stuff stayed the same, such as remote vibrating eggs, but they are just plain expensive!

2. How easy was it to order?

Very easy. The first time was probably comprable to most other sites, but the second time I just wizzed through it. The ordering is set up very similar to Amazon - except that your credit card info is not kept in any database. Just fill up your little cart and then checkout!

3. How long did delivery take and was in delivered in a plain brown package, with nothing to indicate where it was from?

Can't remember the exact days it took to receive the items, but it was well within a week. Of course, I live in So Calif, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it. (Not sure if because Lit's home base is in San Diego if the porn shop is located there as well) I know that it has taken longer to receive other items ordered online. And you do have the option of receiving the items more quickly.

Plain packaging? Yes, definitely. My first order (made almost a year ago) came in a toothpaste box - like something set up for a carton or more of toothpaste. It was a little weird, and my roomie kept asking me if I'd really ordered that much toothpaste! However, the last shipment I received (a month ago), the box was completely plain. However, nothing indicated on the box or the label what was inside.

4.On the statement from your credit card company, what company was it charged to?

I can't remember the exact company's name, but it is something absolutely non-sexual. If you go into the shop here at Lit, they tell you what you will see on your credit card statement. It is very innocuous, and could be for almost anything.


I would also like to add that, with the exception of one item, anal beads, I've been extremely happy with the items I've purchased. They are clearly pictured, and the descriptions give an accurate representation of what they are. I've never lodged a complaint, so I don't know what that is like and can't comment there.

Also, Lit changes their merchandise quite frequently. Nothing worse than seeing the same old stuff all the time. There is a good variety of toys, and they keep shifting it around, so it makes it interesting to stop in every now and again. (Even if only to make a wish list!)

I would highly recommend Lit's little shop of porn. I think you can great stuff for a good price. Now, I have not purchased any of the videos, so I can't speak for those. Nor have I ordered any of the clothing, so the same falls true for that.

I must admit that its been some time since I visited any store, as it seemed that the guy behind the counter would look at me with a smirk on his face as he checked out my purchases.
Now I must decide on which items I wish to buy. Decisions, decisions!!!

While I understand the ease of ordering these toys online is magnificent & convenient. I'm still a wee bit hesitant. I bought a toy for a GF eons ago and I remember the sales clerk (a wonderfully sexy gal & a trooper) dropped in the batteries, turned it on and let me feel the strength of the vibe on my arm. She asked me if the strength was okay.

"The strength was okay"??? I was thrown for a loop at first. I didn't know what to say but I eventually understood her rationale. Not knowing if it was too powerful or not I bought it. Luckily it was fine and the GF enjoyed herself immensely.

But for those of you who buy a vibrator online (and it's such a personal purchase too!), aren't you taking a wild stab in the dark as to the vibe's strength?? Other than physical dimensions, what other info can you get?? At least in an actual reputable sex shop (with knowledgable employees) we could "sample" the products.

Such is the bane of ordering things online I guess.

I was also wondering if anyone out there has ever bought a vibe or dildo online & hated it. I can only imagine the return policy if they even have one!

I can appreciate the enjoyment you and your girlfriend get by visiting the porn shops to browse the "racks". I asked MY-Sir if we could do the same thing when I am visiting HIM.
Call it foreplay if you will, but I think going to a toy store is a great start to a scene.

I feel the same SexyChele. For a woman to walk into a sex shop by herself, is a bit intimidating, particulary if a man is behind the counter. I get the feeling of being scrutinized. Nope, I don't like the idea of someone wondering about my purchases.

It's a pleasure to do so. I guess I've always been curious about things like this and have wondered if there is such a vibe that's TOO strong for a woman to tolerate. And if so, what are your options beyond that. Buying a vibrator isn't like buying a shirt that might be too snug and can be returned easily!

Seriously though, I once bought one that proclaimed to "give a woman that deep powerful vibration." BOLLOCKS!! I purchased it from a sex shop too. What a disappointment! I had to work the courage up to go into this place and the toy I bought was sadly deficient in the power it proclaimed. I suppose I could have returned it, but because the guy behind the counter made me feel so uneasy, I opted against going back. Still have the damned thing too.

Titania, I think this is something that almost all women are interested in, but the majority never gather the courage to walk into that little sex shop on the corner for fear of being ridiculed or worse. I know for myself, it took everything I could muster to go into that shop. Embarassing? You bet! But my desire was greater than my embarassment. I didn't have internet access at the time, so the only other way for me to purchase was by mail order. As MY-Sir will confirm, I'm not the most patient person. Which means catalog ordering was out of the question. Now with the net and quick delivery, I am working on my patience. Lemme see, my goodies should be here in how many days??? VERY interesting thought Chele! I've never thought about going into a sex shop as being an adventurous or a gender based thing until you mentioned it. To a certain degree I think we men here are almost proud as we walk into that store. Perhaps we subconsciously bragging about our sexual confidence as we stroll through those doors And admittedly I do feel more comfortable if the clerk behind the counter is a woman too. Hmmmm? At least in my area there are several stores which are very female freindly. Always several woman working there, will answer any question very straigt forwardly. I think the manufacturers are finding this method makes it very easy for women to enter the door without feeling like a hooker. I certainly understand where most women would feel uncomfortable enter a store that has peep shows etc...
