The Alex is becasue when I came here I decided to use the name Alexandra Brier and set up all the hotmail info to match.
My Avatar is of a mini Mule, since I won't put a pic of me online. especially not connected to a place like this.
1000s of people, alot of them men, I don't think so.
The reason for the deception of course is I am a girl, and have had one too many stalkers in my decade + online.
I am surprised by the people who just put their picture up or alot of personal details.
My pic in my profile IS my cat, but its the one cute pic I have of him without his nametag being shown, I didn't feel confident with my ability to pixel it out. I'll occasionally change my pictures, but it will never be anything that could possibly identify me.
As it is I have gotten more than one email as a result of a story of men trying to search for an Alex in the Philosophy of science program at the University of Maryland. Not my name, not my school ... but I am thankful there isn't one, since I didn't check before writing a story.

Why openthighs? I got the nickname in college, and it just stuck, I guess. (No, that's not true. I don't have an answer, though. I just liked the sound of it, really.)
Why this AV? The last one I used was just too slutty, and I was afraid people would make assumptions about my character. This one's all classy and whatnot, with the piano. People will take me more seriouser with this AV.

Manga are Japanese comics. They come in all flavors. I'm partial to car-and-gun action, samurai action, and SF action--fine, fine, I'm an adrenaline junkie, at least when I'm reading black and white comics right to left.
Years ago I posted some fan fiction pertaining to manga, and needed a name on the byline. I toyed with "Duchess" and "Countess" and so on, and settled for simple alliteration. For some reason it seems to fit me: a degree of formality and tradition mixed with odd adolescent passions. ;-)
As for the current AV, she is a painting by Felicien Rops. One of his more printable works. I wanted to get rid of the previous AV, and this was handy. I seem to change them every few months, though perhaps it would be better to settle on one.
I have AVs turned off now. My children asked too many questions over my shoulder about BS's dong. ;-)

Originally chosen because I was looking for a gender-neutral name, as I was planning to submit a first-person female story ('Aunt Ellen') and wasn't sure how it would be received, being written by a male writer. I was going to ask Laurel to add the name with no gender shown, but it went up as male and before I could do anything about it I was getting favourable feedback, so I left it. That explains the 'Alex'. De Kok just popped into my head and seemed apt for Literotica! Now try saying it out loud with a clipped South African style accent and stretch the second syllable of Alex, with a 'dee' rather than 'duh' on de Kok...
The current avatar is a picture of the Tyne bridge, taken when the Tall Ships visited Newcastle (before the Millenium Bridge was built). I'm quite fond of my home city.
