Magic Shave Question

I have a few questions about Magic Shave Cream. I hear it talked about on these boards a lot.

1. How is it on sensitive skin?

2. Do you just apply it then wait and wipe it off? or is it like normal shave cream?

3. What stores is it available at?

4. How many men have had success with it?
 
(1) You should always do a test spot to make sure it doesn't irritate. There are plenty of horror stories about that.

(2) You apply it, wait a specific amount of time (and no longer), and then remove it. A spatula works best for this.

(3) You can get it at Walmart

(4) I've seen the results on a man. I absolutely loved it! :devil:

What type of spatula are you talking about?
 
I have been looking, but cannot find at Mid-West Wal-Mart's. I am very anxious to try some out since I have seen several posts about it. Thanks for the spatula tip.

I've never been able to find it at Walmart...but I have found it at Target.

Look in the "Ethnic Hair Care" section. Magic Shave is marketed to Black Men, so it's often not with regualr shaving supplies.

Here in Las Vegas, NV, It can be found a Walmart, Walgreens, Target, and Rite-Aide and probably several other chain stores. I can't say for sure because I haven't seen it elsewhere because I haven't been elsewhere. ;)

Walgreens stocked it under "shaving needs" while Target and Walmart stock in the "ethnic" section. If all else fails, ask a clerk where to find it.
 
Would you all prefer Magic over say Nair hair removel products? The Magic Shave stuff I have found is in a powder form. Is this what we are all talking about?
 
Be sure to test a small area, it does/will burn if left on too long :eek:
 
I live in the Midwest, too, and I bought mine at K-Mart... the only thing is you abolutely have to watch how long you leave it on... It worked great for me, but I did get a tiny chemical burn on my inner thigh. Good luck!:)

I've personally used it a couple of times. I think its great. Which reminds me, it's about time for another usage :)

but seriously, it's cheap, only takes like 6-9 minutes.

I apply mine and then just wipe it off with a towel in the shower. I have no problems yet.

What I would recommend though is being wary of the new hairs growing in. I've found this stuff called BIKINI ZONE. It's apparently used by women shaving their bikini area, but it works great for men down there too. Keeps the skin moist and medicated, so it won't get so irritated or itchy feeling.

For anybody looking for this stuff in the UK, I found it on sale at a black hair and beauty shop in the "mens" section.
 
Let me add another word of caution -- if you have very sensitive skin, be careful. Most people on Lit seem to like Magic and have no problems using it, but I've also seen horror stories from other members and my personal experience was that it made my skin bleed.

The test patch is absolutely mandatory. Know what this stuff will do to your skin before you put it on your most sensitive parts.

I buy it at Meijers, but have seen it at many other stores. If you live in a mainly "white" area it's harder to find. It is a cream for black men. I live in a white neighborhood and it's hard to find, my store only carries only one type, and only one or two bottles at a time. But if I drive towards the city more I can find shelves of it.

And for the spatula, I tried one once, didn't work very well for me. I use a wet washcloth. And another note, it doesn't always get all the hair, so you may have to reaply 24 hours later, or touch up w/ a razor if you prefer.
 
Is this stuff better than Nair? I used that once and after three minutes I had tiny blisters covering the test patch that wept for weeks. Ow. If it is gentler....I may have to try it.

Magic Shave (tm) was developed to deal with sensitive skin and shaving bump problems many Black men have. It might be mild enough for you -- especially the "sensitive skin" version.
 
Warning about Magic

Please if you use it remember to follow the instructions very carefully.
If you prespire profusely, and don't live in an A/C environment, I don't recommend using it.
I tried it once and had great results. EXCEPT in the space between my thigh and groin where the sweat runs when I stand still, I experienced the chemical burn that everyone talks about with Magic.

Don't apply to areas that sweat/ prespire easily.

Save the razor for those, I think a razor is easier in them anyway.

haven't tried magic shave, but here is a tip I heard on a radio station from a porn actress, after shaving apply a antibiotic ointment like neosporin , it really helps. also, the first day don't wear panties,or wear really high cut ones so there is no rubbing.
 
actually there's a solution...

They have a cream that's made to be used anytime you shave that area. My woman and I both use it after we are done with are Magic shave sessions.

It's called Bikini Zone. You apply that each day after you shave for three or four days. It cools the skin. Helps keep that area moist, so it won't dry out, and helps the hair grow back with minimal itching.

we use the little plastic spoons you get in an ice cream cup at the cinema!

perfect for the job and keep s the bathroom utensils separate from the kitchen ones!
 
I really want to find a way other than shaving but the whole chemical burn thing scares the crap out of me.

Several of you really stress testing on a small area before jumping in. This may be a stupid question but....do you test an area anywhere or is it best to do the test where you plan to use it, if you get my drift? I mean, if you test a spot on your leg and all goes well, can you be pretty confident that you won't have any problems on a more sensative area?

Test an area of similar sensitivity, if not the area where it's going to be used.


The patch test is primarily to make sure you aren't allergic to the chemicals, so almost any place that isn't calloused will do. However, the more sensitive the area you test, the more confident you can be that it's safe to use the product.
 
Most useful thread on Magic ever. Found it. Tried the patch test on an arm with no problem. But yesterday the wife tried a bigger area and had a sunburn. What now?
