Moronic Feedback

I received the following feedback for my new story today.

‘Being poor is no sin... becoming a slimy slutwhorewife to get money... well... you have to live with your "fucked up" marriage wimp... dump the slutwife and move, get a job and a real lady to share your life with’

Needless to say it is from Mr Anonymous. This is now the third such missive.

What is wrong with these people? Do they believe the characters in the stories actually exist?

I never got such feedback for my first story on the same theme. Maybe that was because it was too intellectually challenging, being thirteen Lit. pages long.

I wonder if the reason is because I am posting my new story one Lit. page at a time and that this is within the attention span of the average moron.

Actually, some people do think the characters are real and depending on your gender they will think YOU are the male of female lead. Som folks think every story on here is an account of actual happenings, they can't comprehend writing porn as being anything more than penthouse letters. you know, real stories:rolleyes:

-Colly

Colleen, you mean Penthouse Letters are not real? :(

It is amazing that some of the dumbasses out there don't actually address their feedback directly to the charaters.

Dear Sipowicz,

You rock. You are the best detective in New York. I think you are much better than that Lenny Briscoe guy on Law & Order. Do you two ever meet at AA meetings?

You're my favorite because you are banging that beautiful blonde cop.

Sincerely,
Anonymous

I've gotten more than one feedback like this. It's stupid. The shame of it is that if you care about your votes then you're hurt because that same person is going to give you a very low vote because they are so dumb as to think the characters are real. You can't expect everyone to have half a brain on here but you wouldn't think they'd be that stupid.

I'll have to disagree with the majority opinion here. While I've been around the block enough times not to be surprised at how gullible some people can be, I suspect that that is not the case here. My take is that these people have been hurt by something similar in their past, and wish to vent and punish those who "promote" said transgressions.

As for the low votes, if you're going to write a story in a genre that some people have a problem with, you just have to accept the occasional low score as going with the territory. That, or get Literotica to change the system.

That still makes them morons in my book, Lou. Why search out and read something that is going to remind them of past unhappiness?

Octavian, it's been a while; just wondering how you and the lovely Sophie are doing. Any buns in the oven yet? Hur hur.

Perdita :p

buns in the oven?

Hello Perdita

No, not yet. Sophie is rather chaste, as I'm sure you recall. Anyway there is no chance at the moment because I am having a sword fight with Baron Ochs!

I respectfully diagree. I have recieved more than a few feedbacks, both good and bad, addressed to the character in the story.

I don't tink there is a catergory here that you could write to that someone disen't disagree with. There may be those who are hurt by the similarities in your story to their own past, but a lot of people really believe you are writing from experience about your own life in the storie shere.

I'm not sure what any of my correspondents think I am. So far I've not been violently slagged for anything I've written, although I've had a couple of intriguing invites to take part in MMF threesomes... all unfortunately from Anonymous persons.

*nuvver sigh*

Golly, Oct., I thought you and "chaste" Sophie ran off to wedded bliss at the end. Is there a sequel I don't know about?

Ochs? You can take him I'm sure.

tra la, Perdita :rose:

I just have Perdita.
I played the old looking over his shoulder trick and when he turned round to see who I was looking at, I pierced him in the arras with my epee.

I got pretty flamed for a cheating-wife story I wrote, but most of it just made me slap my forehead and wonder how long it took Mr Anonymous to read the story, and if he used both his braincells to read it.

In stories, my theory is that you turn some on, and some off. My PR theory . . . the better you piss poeple off, the more recognized you are . . . one never gets recognition from anything vanilla . . . or do they? Hollywood aside . . . Good for you . . .

While I don't doubt that each category may have someone who disagrees with it, my thought was that the stories dealing with infidelity would be the most likely to create a "vigorous" reaction.

However, you received the mail that you did, and I haven't, so I'll defer to your experience.

That being so, one would think that even with the sorry state of our public education today, people could distinguish between fiction and non-fiction. I guess there are more lunatics and disfunctionals out there than I would have thought.

edit: When are they going to make a keyboard that enters the words I meant to type?

Some people really don't understand. I know a few who think that because it was in a book or on tv then it's true. They have no concept of how a person could just make things up for entertainment. Stupid, stupid people who have no place in society. I know that's harsh but what good does someone like that do? Blame it on the education (and I would probably agree) but the fact remains, they are stupid, ignorant people.

Well when Gilligan's Island was on the air the network received an inordinate amount of letters from people who thought the castaways were really stuck on the island. Not only the network, but the coast guard and navy also received missives pleading them to rescue those poor people!

So if people couldn't get it striaght that a show with a laughtrack, opening and closing credits, and commercials in between wasn't real, how do you expect them to wrap their miniscule brains around the concept of a fictional written story? :p

Completely off topic

Did Gilligan's Island have a laughtrack? I can't remember one way or the other &, now that Colly has saved me from obsessing about search & seizure, I'm driving myself nuts trying to remember.

Yes it did, I don't think I can conceive of Gilligan being hit on the head by a coconut without the ensuing canned laughter.

The thing that totally blows my mind is that The Flintstones had a laughtrack. It's a freaking cartoon! What are we supposed to imagine that there's a cartoon audience laughing while the cartoon actors tape their program live in a studio?

Good grief, AM, that says so much about American "culture", the Gilligan concerns and the Flintstones' laughtrack. I think I'm getting depressed now.

Perdita :(
