How does one post big porn images here ?

Someone suggested using an image server like imageshack. Notice the stuff about porn below. Also, they usually limit how many pulls another website can make on an image. So the first 20 people see it and the rest don't.

ImageShack® Terms of Service
Short version of the ImageShack® Terms of Service:
Don't upload anything that can be even remotely construed as porn, copyrighted material, harassment, or spam. If you do, we will ban you, delete all your images, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on ImageShack®.
1. Definitions
'ImageShack®' refers to the ImageShack® Corporation and this website, and excludes its shareholders, owners, or operators.
'File' refers to any document that has the potential to be uploaded to ImageShack®.
'User' refers to the individual who uploads files to ImageShack®, has uploaded files to ImageShack®, or accesses files from ImageShack®.
'URL' refers to the location of any file located on ImageShack®'s servers.
2. Terms of Service
ImageShack® reserves the right to remove or replace any uploaded files, and assumes no liability for lost registration links or misplaced file URLs. Changing ImageShack® linking codes is prohibited without prior permission.
The following types of files constitute "abuse" may not be uploaded under any circumstances:
Pornographic files. This includes, but is not limited to, files depicting genitalia, nudity, or sexual situations.
Files that are illegal and/or are in violation of any United States laws pertaining to digital content usage.
Files that infringe on the copyrights of any entity excluding the user.
Non-image or non-swf files. This includes archived non-image files.
Files intending to harass or spam, or promote anything for commercial profit.
If any domain hotlinks to abusive files, any file hotlinked on that domain will display this image, and the domain's owner must ensure the quick removal of all files hotlinked from ImageShack® on that domain. Domains containing the phrases "toplist", "topsites", "porn", or "hentai" are banned regardless of abuse.
Uploading abusive files may result in the immediate termination of the user's ability to use ImageShack® or any of its provided services. The ImageShack® website may not load, all ImageShack®-hosted files may not load, and all files and accounts related to the abusive files will be subject to deletion. Circumventing ImageShack®'s ability to enforce the ImageShack Terms of Service will result in prosecution.
To report any type of abuse, send email using the Report Abuse or Request Deletion page.
3. Privacy
All information provided by the user is strictly confidential. ImageShack® reserves the right to distribute aggregated demographic information provided by the user, but ImageShack® will never release any personal information about the user without permission. However, ImageShack® reserves the right to release user information if user has violated the ImageShack® Terms of Service, if the user has committed unlawful acts, if the information is subpoenaed, or if ImageShack® deems it necessary or appropriate.

Sorry, I am not going to get my own server. Does anyone have one they want to share ?

Is it appropriate to post porn here ?

File Too Large. Limits are 800 x 600. Your file is 500 x 744. Uggghhh...

File Too Large. Limits are 800 x 600. Your file is 500 x 726.

File Too Large. Limits are 800 x 600. Your file is 538 x 717.

I give up. Someone tell me how to do this without errors and I'll post more.

The attachment function has three separate and independent size checks.

All of the images you tried to post would be just fine if they were rotated 90 degrees (they passed the 100KB filesize check to get those error messages.)

I would suggest you try Irfanview -- it's a FREE image management program that is very good at fast resizing. Just convert all of your images to JPeG format and set the resize to make them all 600 pixels tall.

99% of images will meet the 800x600x100KB limits regardless of orientation when resized to 600 pixels tall because of the standard 4:3 aspect ratio of the most common screen resolutions and cameras -- i.e they'll be either 800 pixels wide or 450 pixels wide when they're 600 pixels tall.

You've obviously done some cropping to have images of the dimensions you reported, but a simple double check of the width before saving -- and reduction to 800 pixels if necessary -- should make your images attachable.

Most other image edtors or image manager programs can resize as simply as Irfanview, but very few can do it as fast, cheaply, or well as IrfanView.

a) I run a Linux system. Having said that I could probably make said software run via wine. And there is probably a Linux equivalent application.

b) I didn't crop the images that fit or the ones that didn't fit. That is the size they came.

c) an 800x600 image doesn't take any more space than a 600x800 image. Isn't there a setting in the software that will allow the portrait orientation to be displayed.

If I have to resize the images, I won't be posting them too much work. Furthermore, in this day and age, why are the images PIXEL sizes limited ? One can crank up the compression and get a small file size from a big image.

These images are good and I'm sure people want to see them as large as possible.

I respectfully request that you see if the software has a setting that allows larger images (pixel wise, at least) to be posted. At least allow 800 x 800 so that a 600 x800 can be displayed in both orientations. Actually it is not unusual for images to be a few pixels over the 600 x 800 sizes, so maybe 820 x820.

Is there a faster way to upload the images ? Is there a way to directly store them on the Lit server and then just put a link in the post ?

Thanks for listening.

Their software is terrible !

file type not supported: 07.jpeg
error filename is bad: 112203D-111.jpg
error filename must be longer than 4 characters and less than 32

Probably only supports DOS 8.3 filenames ? 01a.jpg uploads fine.

Are there any other sites like that that work better ?

How does one access their images once you upload them to smutput ?

Who knew porn could be so much work ?

As far as I know, Irfanview is a windows only program. Paintshop Pro is as fast and a bit better at resizing without distortion, but since Corel bought JASC software, it's gotten to be a bit spendy, although it is supposed to be Linux compatible.

That's very true and it's especially irritating when dealing with smaller images, like 640x480 vs 480x640.

I have no control over the way the vBulletin software handles size checking or Literotica's choice of limits. There is a "contact us link at the bottom of the page where you can make the case for larger pixel limits to the people who can do something about them.

Personally, I'm quite happy with the 800x600 limit because that's the screen resolution that I use. Images that are bigger than that a) distort the BB layout and b) can't be seen as a complete image.

The current version of the vBulletin software allows you to attach up to five images to each post, but does not allow batch filenames. What many people do is to edit the attachment links into the first post of a picture thread.

Literotica is a story site and doesn't deal with visual porn exept for the occassional illustrated story. Even if they did, they would require proof that you hold the copyright on any pictures you post -- which since YOU didn't do the cropping is probably not the case.

So I shouldn't be posting them here ????

Linux has wine which will allow me to run Irfanview, but also has apps that do the same thing, better, for free.

So you see the irony.

Are you sure there isn't a setting in the config file for it ? Could you double check that ?

Less than 25% of computer users are still running 800 x 600. That size is getting antiquated. Remember when 640 x 480 was the norm ? Time to trade up. Really. Monitors and video cards are cheap.

OK

That's a bit of a grey area -- Literotica doesn't deal with visual erotica, but the BB is a bit less controlled. There used to be a warning about posting copyrighted images next to the "attachment" function, and the management will remove any images that are copyrighted or if the copyright is in dispute -- when they are made aware of violations.

However, the BB users routinely share their favorite images and picture threads are among the most popular -- whether amateur pictures or pirated images.

Bottom line is that unless someone complains or you post something illegal, your pictures will be welcome. If you can find a place to host them so they can be hotlinked, it would be much better; Lit won't have to worry about possible copyright violations on their servers and you won't have to resize them.

vBulletin does alalow the admin users to set the the three size checks -- even to setting different limits for different formats. I don't happen to be an admin user at Literotica, just an old hand who knows what limits those who DO have admin access have chosen. I have moderator access on other vBulletin systems and have read the vBulletin user's guide thoroughly, so I know what can be done, I just don't have the access to do any of it.

My system can handle 1280x1024x"True Color" -- I just can't read anything at that resolution. :p

Can you discuss this with the powers that be on my behalf ? Thanks.

OK, that makes sense. I'll do some experimenting and see how I make out.

You might check out Photo-bucket. I see a lot of explicit images hotlinked from there.
