The shuttered door blocks the sun,
but not the sound
of merrymaking in the distance.
Girls in native dress,
bare breasted beauties
cavorting and calling out for their loved ones
to join them in the dance.
.
I rose from my bed where I'd lain
recuperating these last few weeks
to follow the insistent beat
calling through the waving trees
down to the beach, and as I emerged
from the trees, innocence that had entered
the forest was gathered into their arms
and stood on trembling legs
until starting bare breasted too, I entered
through the healing movements
of magical dance the feast arranged
for the Queen not allowed to rule
as a Virgin.

Thank you, it's about a Virgin Queen who has been ill but still goes to her ceremony to take away her virginity because she cannot rule until she's lost it!

An evocative invocation to the dance. It called out to my primitive instincts but alas I've two left feet,

It leaves a lot to imagine, especially after the last line - a virtuoso buildup to the not so virtuous image it created in my head, enjoying the warm covers on this Saturday that brought first frost, wishing to be there in this tropical dream.

Thanks for sharing this...fanciful dance lesson
