| Profile Statement:
I taught middle school language arts for five years, during which time I edited and evaluated nearly 5000 letters, poems, stories and essays. Prior to that I proof read and edited 12-15 page adoption reports before they were submitted to court as legal documents. I have also proofed and edited a dozen master's theses and doctoral dissertations for friends and relatives.
While I focus on spelling, grammar, and mechanics, I also look for logical plot progression, character development, and a consistent tone throughout the story. I not only point out the error or problem when I come across it, but I offer suggestions for its remedy as well, with the goal of helping the author become a better writer. |
