I've been a manuscript and production editor for twenty years, worked on more than two hundred books, and even helped revise one of the major US style manuals. I don't have a lot of free time, and paying clients take priority, so responses to inquiries may take a few days and I may at times have to extend my own deadlines. You should probably look elsewhere if you're in a big hurry.
I'm willing to do a fast-and-dirty grammar tune-up if that's what's needed, but I prefer working with authors who have basic mechanics under control and are looking for help with structure, tone, characterization--the fun stuff!
Subject matter: My own experience is as a straight male--willing to work on LGBTetc fiction, but not especially knowledgeable. Not particularly interested in fetish fiction, but if the story is good, maybe. And I'm not big on coercion--if your story shows some insight into disparities of power, I may consider it; if it merely celebrates them, move on. |
