| Profile Statement:
I would like very much to be your proofreader, or "second editor." Many great stories that credit an editor still contain enough grammar, capitalization and punctuation errors to turn a five-star story into a four-star story. When that happens I feel terrible, because it could have been avoided. Spellchecker error seems pervasive. By the way,I do know the difference between American and British English, and won't "correct" what isn't wrong! Capitalization and sentence structure problems (which can usually be fixed with the simple insertion or removal of a punctuation mark) also would receive my attention.
I'm a university reference librarian and have my MLS degree. That said, I prefer to back WAY off concerning plot structure, characterization, etc. An editor can seem to "take over" a story, but I will never cross that line. |
