| Profile Statement:
I have no special editing skills, but in over 53 years (my parents told me I was reading before I was 4) I've read a lot - and have opinions about what reads well.
UK rather than US usage is where I'm really at. It isn't the spelling that's the problem, but things like "tan" which I want to 'correct' to "tanned" (when it means browned-by-the-sun).
My ideal - which I'd love to be able to help you attain - is prose that is transparent: the reader isn't aware of the writing at all, just of the story being told. What I think I can do is to tell you when the writing gets in between the reader and the story.
If this approach appeals, please feel free to ignore any category preferences, but, 'caveat emptor'. |
