I have a special interest in editing Erotic Couplings, Loving Wives, or Romance stories. As far as qualifications, I have always been a voracious reader, which you really have to be to be a decent editor. I have prior experience as a proofreader and editor for a couple of newspapers. I'm kind of a stickler for picking out typos, etc.--even a bit picky, some might say. I also like to point out where stories might be dragging a bit, and like to find any inconsistencies that may exist that will throw the reader off.
Generally I like to read a story once over lightly on a first pass to get a general feel about it, and then will supply comments later on a second read, going through the story line by line. I may make suggestions as far as style and plot, but it is ultimately your work and so I try to stay away from stylistic criticism as much as possible. |
