| Profile Statement:
I am very good at catching words improperly used, but spell checkers find correct, in the wrong context - They annoy me within stories that are otherwise well written, and I usually understand if they are used for effect (not affect) in their proper place. (Dry humor is for deserts, not desserts, for example, as they're found wrong in at least one story I found, plus many more errors using their, there, they're and similar mistakes in word usages.) Some non-American English (England, Australia, NZ, etc.) can also be confusing, but I usually understand the differences. I also can fix some grammar structure, but my writing skills to make a story interesting? - Not there, and I have tried a couple of times. I also do not like most contractions such as the "they're" I used above as a sample - there is usually no reason to save space by using contractions, except when slang or a particular writing style is involved - that is my opinion and possibly why I do not evoke interest or passion from my personal writing. I have read some grammar texts, and a couple of dictionaries, and encyclopedias, plus I read hundreds of stories (and blogs, etc.) a year on many sites, not just Literotica, and would like to try editing a few stories a year, starting with very short ones, if possible. I have only picked the categories I am most interested in for preferences. My knowledge of other than English is being able to read a little bit of other (European based) languages, based on my studies of where English words came from, which is no help with grammar or spelling, but can help with a meaningful final translation into English, sometimes. |
