Down to the bank
made a small withdrawal
was late summer
sliding into fall,
Each grabbed a jacket
put the top in the boot
direction we were heading
was really rather moot,

Wind in our face
serendipity in our heart
they always say leaving
is the hardest part,
Speedo read eighty
as we cross the state line
radio blasting
both feeling fine,

About noon we stopped
for gas and a snack
stashed a couple beers
in the cooler in the back,
Drove a few more hours
found a cheap motel
rooms by the hour
where they never, ever tell,

Together took a shower
opened a cold beer
a number for pizza
was posted on the mirror,
Twenty minutes later
in bed, veggie deluxe
amazing in this country
what one can get for twenty bucks …

This gives me "Thelma & Louise" vibes... I love it! Every couple of verses feels like a movie scene; that feeling of freedom, when you're just leaving, driving far away, without a care in your mind. Amazing!
