In 2000 years,
We are proud to point to all our advances in science, in technology,
in health, in medicine, in agriculture, in education, and in everything else.
In 2000 years,
We still haven't learned to end a mother's fear,
for her children while off at school, or out to play, or even at home.
In 2000 years,
We are still killing each other in senseless wars,
in the cities and on the streets.
In 2000 years,
We are still not able to feed the hungry in the third world countries,
nor in the poor villages, nor on our affluent streets.
In 2000 years,
We still haven't learned to love all the people regardless of their race,
nor our neighbors, nor even our children at times.
In 2000 years,
We haven't learned to protect the precious resources of our earth,
nor it's oceans, nor it's forests.
In 2000 years,
We still haven't learned to teach all our children how to read,
our poor how to end their plight, our homeless to help themselves.
In 2000 years,
We have accomplished so many great things and learned so very much, yet
after 2000 years we are still such gross failure at humanity.
In 3000 years,
Will we have learned???
I find myself saddened by your words because they are true. I hope that we will have learned in 3000 years but I doubt it. As we make advances in science and technology we seem to continue to backslide as human beings... Loosing sight of what REALLY matters.
