my words poured out
like hot coffee
she drank them,
then asked for a refill

minutes became memories
as I listened
to her breathe
life back into me
through thousands of miles of wire

hours were spent
carving pedestals for her,
then smashing them,
fearing my inadequacy

could a germ be a cure
for everything
that ailed me
or elder regrets?

yes,

i want truck
with this Lori.
