after
making
love

the hot summer air
swishes
through an open screen door

we lie
on his mother's carpet
babies sleep in the next room

bodies stickysweaty
no air conditioning
but
we lie
contented
in ourselves
each other
me to bathe in his eyes
he to dwell in my hair

a kiss
soft
&
slow
like the first time

memories and dreams
past and future
I see them all in his eyes
and they say come to me

a desert breeze
on salty skin
we both glisten in the heat
but he still holds me
