She was so sure
When they met
That they were meant to be
As time slips by
She now sees
How very wrong she was
The pain she feels
So very real
Hurts more with each new day

He gave her strength
To carry on
When life seemed overwhelming
He made her believe
She’d be okay
When burdens weighed her down
He was her guide
When she was lost
Her beacon in the night
He helped her through
When times got tough
And she couldn’t make it on her own
He made her feel
No trouble was
Too much for her to bare
He was her confidante
Always
With a sympathetic ear
He was her best friend
And her lover
With a passionate and tender touch
He was so truly
Wonderful
He took her breathe away
She fell for him
Because
Of all of this and more

He told her once
He loved her
But then he changed his mind
He said he had to stop
Because
It interfered with all his plans
He built up walls
She could not break
And were impossible to climb
He left her standing
All alone
With tears streaming down her face
She tried to understand
Why it all fell apart
She was so sure
His love was real
Why did he break her heart?
