'Painted Pony'
Hot Texas winds swept across desert cactus combs
as a blistering sun blazed over Little Deer’s new home
At El Rancho La Grande the cattlemen outside
all licked their lips at their neighbor’s new bride
Drinking in her red beauty, they all stood there in awe
but sadly they thought, “Heck, she’s just an Indian squaw”
As he carried his bride over his ranch’s threshold,
she was greeted a Texas warm welcome into the fold
The honeys’ moon hung blushing with romantic glows
as two lovers lay entwined without any clothes
Their fingers touched hearts and two forever loved souls;
honeysuckled kisses in sweet tasting tongue rolls
Navajo rug that under a dream catcher sheltered
the hot flesh of two that mixed, mingled and sweltered
Her cowboy, in love’s saddle, rode all that night long
as Little Deer, in bride’s heart, chanted a joyous song
Awake, the morning sun to her brings soft surprises
like no brave grabbing his squaw when he first arises
Instead, flower petals are scattered all about their room
and breakfast is served right to her mouth; hand fed by her groom
Then she’s whisked to the door in giggling flight;
his Indian bride wrapped in a sheet, held snug tight
Once outside, a smile breaks and while in his arms, grows
His surprise~ a painted pony for his thrilled Cherokee Rose
She rode like the wind on her gift; saddle bared
into the future, she in love with a cowboy had dared
many suns and moons passed as their love bloomed all about
and Little Deer’s love with Texas grew without a doubt
Corsets were unknown to her and the local ladies stared
At poor Little Deer they all snickered, laughed and glared
But one friendly soul took pity with her country warm slow pace
and talked Little Deer into trying on and wearing some white lace
She rode home on painted pony; hooves so fast they’d nearly flown
and when her cowboy husband saw, his eyes lit up and shone
He was pleased with the changes and this new style of dress
and even with her wind tossed hair; a Cherokee Rose princess
His passions high and needing; he embraced his new look wife
and held her close with tenderness for the rest of his fated life
They went hand in hand up to their room; love rubbing nose with nose
The cowboy; pleased with his bride~ the lacey Cherokee Rose

................ 'A Cherokee Rose' ..........
Thanks 'wanton vixxxen' for tending the garden and doing much more than weeding,
for there was more than watering which brought this poem to blossom. (~_*)
Another delightful chapter in the continuing saga of Cherokee Rose. The title of the next chapter has got me a bit worried though.
The epic unfolds;
love's passion slowly grows,
as our Rose explores new things;
innocence and joy entwined ~~ a great tale.
nice and swift and am enjoying as always. each one with an identity all their own leading up to its powerful climatical ending.......don
