A Crowded Room

A crowded room, I stand alone
My face a mask that hides what's true
The glasses clink, the gossip bubbles
And my thoughts begin to brew.
The room alive with many colours
And yet my mind is only blue
The emptiness that overwhelms me
Deadens every shade and hue.
The soft lights sparkle all around
And yet it's darkness fills my view
The room so full, my heart so empty
A space that waits for only you.

In the shadows, I stay waiting
Hollow to the very core
Searching through the sea of faces
Hoping I will find the shore.
Then I find the lights shine brighter
Hopefully, I search once more
And there you are, just staring at me
With that smile that I adore.
You walk towards me, eyes enchant me
You take my hand, we take the floor
Your strong arms wrapped around my body
I found the dance that I craved for.

A crowded room, alone together
All my emptiness takes flight
You pull me closer and I see
The climax of my dream in sight.
The glow of desire spreads all around us
Protects us from the cool spring night
Your eyes meet mine, they steal my soul
And in my heart I know it's right.
Your fingertips upon my cheek
A touch so gentle, soft and light
Feelings so intense astound me
Yet I have no will to fight.

And though I should not let it happen
It is a feeling I can't miss
If the desire were not forbidden
Would it taste as sweet as this?
In that moment, conscience stumbles
I do not hear guilt's nagging hiss
All I feel is our joint longing
And nothing in my world's amiss.
Our dream released, our parting silent
But memory still locked in bliss
Warmth from your lips serves to remind me
Of the perfection of your kiss.
