Sink your teeth in
Drink my blood as it pulses
    Through my veins…
it’s my life dripping out
slipping down your throat
like my own life force.

You knew me once
a child still innocent…
life happened to find me
before spilling virgin blood.

i look at the scars
that stay with me.
the ones that don’t show
are the hardest to bear.

It makes me wonder
if I hadn’t been so starved for love--
could I have made it out of childhood,
intact with my innocence?
