Lay down your head
upon my strong shoulder-
We'll pretend not to love
or that it's how we wish it was
give me your hand
I'll carry you close to my chest-
We'll pretend we are safe
and that we are who we wish we were.

Hush – don't open your eyes.

Lay down your head
the Truth should run from me-
My inner self is more than a match
to fight this loss.
No -- the Truth will part us soon.
my small hand brushes the tear
slipping from your cheek
to my (weak) shoulder
as you catch the glint
of my truth-telling ring.

Sweet

A very sweet, sad and thoughtful poem. Says a lot in a few words. Makes me sad for this couple...but I loved the poem.

Keep writing.
