In Remembrance of Laura L Lyttle,
(03/07/66-06/01/05)
A loving partner and wonderful mother.

Stares at the screen
For hours at a time
Talking and chatting
Knowing everything's fine

Spending his hours
Sitting with you
Laughing and crying
And knowing you are too

Such a wonderous thing
That man has brought forth
The ability to care
For people far north

Loving and sharing
In troubles and pain
Typing till fingers bleed
And still there's no gain

Trying not to think
About what has to come
The time to say bye,
When there's so much left undone

That heart wrenching torture
That man must go through
Because once he signs off,
Then his whole world is through

Tears stream down his face
As the time draws to a close
Knowing and hating
That sad time the most

People you love
Are so hard to find
But thanks to man's progress,
They're only one keystroke behind

You laugh and cry,
Feel each other's warmth
But once that button is pressed,
Your heart's a cold, empty hearth

You can go anywhere
And do anything
When you are together
You feel none of the pain

Sit in the world's most beautiful garden
Or in a smokey lounge
When you are together,
You need not make a sound

The keyboard is magic
As you type what you feel
But when you get off,
You've done closed the deal

The miles come rushing back
The distance is great
You stare at the keyboard
One keystroke to late

keyboard.

Virtually the keyboard provides a magic carpet to adventure. Once you hit the enter key for the last time you are once more totally alone. Painting a vivid image with a few well chosen words.

~~

A nice write for your first time

About the impersonal universe

Of keyboard and screen;

Hope we'll see more from you

And Welcome to Lit.
