A Lesser Samaritan

With two more jiggers of gin by the pool
And a twisted lime, he thinks of the soul,
That hardly definable absolute,
Daunting with those Friday night questions,

Like God and shopping centers on Sunday:

"Those goddam 'mauls' open on Sunday."

But Bunker Hill Propane takes its toll
For BBQ blue flames hot at twilight.
We all like our steak pink in the center,
And Sparky's barking....

"Oh, Christ!

I forgot.

Hey, Marge! Let the goddam dog out!

No. Last night."
