Click hereAs an ESL Teacher in China I have come across some really 'naughty' students. Early this year I had the tune of an old Kamahl song "A Child is Born" running through my head, and one such naughty class were the inspiration for this poem (song). I hope you enjoy it.
A LITTLE BOY'S LIFE
A little boys life, starts at end of day.
He goes to school; there he has to stay.
Till the day is through, then he runs and plays.
A little boys life, starts at end of day.
He learns his maths, and his Chinese too.
He works all day, but this he has to do.
And he gets so tired, and he feels so blue.
This is his life; this he has to do.
A little boys life, starts at end of day.
He goes to school; there he has to stay.
Till the day is through, then he runs and plays.
A little boys life, starts at end of day.
When all is said; all is said and done.
He feels so sad; he just wants to run.
There are games to play, and he wants some fun.
He’s in a dream, til the day is done.
A little boys life, starts at end of day.
He goes to school; there he has to stay.
Till the day is through, then he runs and plays.
A little boys life, starts at end of day.
Little children are the hope of the world. Why shouldn't they have their fun. I like the rhythm used here. There is a sense of a swing feel to it. A delightful rendering.
