The darkness comes, and the light is gone,
Night invades my sight and thought,
Where are you?; When did you leave?
Even though I am here at home,
The longing for you is always for naught,
And in your passing I have to grieve.
I had you once and knew you well,
I carried you even when it seemed like it didn't matter,
I touched your essence and was filled with you.
Now this life has become a dark empty well,
All illusions made to shatter,
Everything I try I can not do.
Nothing comes in waves like dispair,
The beating of my heart and the air I breath accuse me,
Even the tears I shed don't help me to cope.
I'm just a burden; A drain on all that care,
Because I use to know your name you see,
The forgotten friend that I once called hope.
