A Moment At Dawn

Hand in hand,
As night meets the day,
They sit together,
Watching over the bay.

The mornings light,
Seeping into the skies,
Matching the glow,
Of love in their eyes.

Through her long hair,
His fingers he'll run,
It seems to shine golden,
In the rays of the sun.

She turns to face him,
Their eyes, they meet,
She's so close now,
He can feel her heart beat.

Softly, gently,
He kisses her cheek,
His questioning eyes,
Her answer they seek.

If she says no,
He'll love her no less,
But he'll be in heaven,
If the answer is yes.

The question he's asked,
Unsure and shy,
Is "Will you be mine,
To the day that I die?"

An eternity passes,
The prospects seem nil,
Then she lifts up her eyes,
And whispers "I will."
