A Package Of Hope

A PACKAGE OF HOPE

on the front porch
there was a package from UPS.
i took the box inside
to find a book of poems
that had calligraphy print
on the front cover,
that read, "blood on statues."
it sounded like a good one to me.
i wondered about it for some time,
but i stopped writing two years ago,
what did i have to gain by receiving this?
a part of me said, put the book on the coffee table and let it collect dust.
another part of me said, this could be inspiration
i haven't had in a very long time.
but i had reservations,
because i had learned that writers
have to have thick skin
like a suede leather jacket perhaps.
nevertheless, i thought about the words,
"blood and statues" in that they could be
depicted in a lot of various concepts
in the use of metaphors.
could blood mean that of fingers that bleed
and that statues might be
related to polished poems.
i don't know, but maybe this is what i need
to kickstart my mind and give it a whirl.
