When the night turns to day and the moon to the sun,
And you sail upon the waters you need and love,
And your hair waves in the wind,
Peace will find you,
Your heart and mind will rest and you will be fulfilled,
Look to the shore my friend and throw your arm into the wind,
Wave to the woman standing there with love in her heart,
Carry the memories with you as you sail away,
For she will hold you in her heart until the end of her time,
As you sail away upon your dream,
And the sea takes you away to your distant island,
And the years age her and time slips away,
Remember the love she shared with you,
Passions sweet embrace, and loves eternal call,
Words which cannot hold your sailing spirit,
The sea cries, the gulls sing, the sirens song lures you,
She will stand there on the shore,
And she will softly and tearfully say Goodbye to her wandering sailor

Very Evocative

Beautiful visuals Sue, thank you so much. I'm not a critic, I either like it or I don't and this poem I love.

~~

From time's distant past she has been so standing

Waving to her sailor man as he travels again on the sea.

Evokes Memories!

Nothing has perhaps evoked the memories of sea-going days more than this beautiful poem. As long as men go down to the ships and the women left behind wave goodbye this poem will be relevant. Beautiful in its sweetness!

You're a mind reader

Sue:

This Horny 'ol Sailor read your poem and deep in my heart I knew that those are the words my wife would have used if she were of a poetic bent. Thank You. Ronnie Wachuka.
