A Scent of Lilies

enter a place in time
where lace covered candle light
bathes secrets in sensual shadows
.... draped in whispers
.... words dance on fingertips
.... over naked flesh
silent gasps shrouded by desire

whose existence is it
where strangers embrace
in the bliss of anonymity
.... mine or yours
where a mere slice of actuality
begets swiftly fading ghosts of meaning
.... yours or mine

fleeting reality surrenders
and behind closed eyelids
lit only by tenuous firefly lights
we grasp at what was

looking back along the way
how can I tell my universe ever touched yours
what proof
.... other than a vague notion of lilies

This poem is a bit of foreshadowing for your newest story, “Dreams”!

And in this weekend’s New York Times magazine, there is a lengthy article about dreams and dreaming.

I do believe the Lit-iverse is trying to tell me something!
