Dark and dreary Winter, the season
That symbolises death
Has been driven back once more
By Spring's sweet breath.
She has come now, and though her time
Is so very short
She will sweep away the cold brought on
By Winter's retort.

If I could have just one wish in life
Then I would pray
That Spring and I were alone together
For only a day.
I alone allowed to breathe her scent
Hour by hour
Lie unclothed in the light of her sun
Among the wildflowers.

Her purity would touch the blood in me
And make it sing,
Her beauty would bathe the realm in me
Where truth would ring.
She will leave me immune to the touch
Of Winter's wrath,
And I should no longer call my place
A wanderer's path.

I could carry her always with me, if only
She had the time
To lay her hand apon my tortured soul
And call serenity mine.
Alas, all the world cries out to her, frozen
Deep from within
Needing to feel her healing touch
Soothing evil, healing sin.

Soon, oh so soon she will be gone
For another year
Her touch lives through summer, and then
Winter will be here.
Winter and I are old acquaintences
For a long time ago
He gave birth to my beating heart
And left it in the snow.

renewal.

The everlasting eternal wish ~ for sweet Springtime to reappear. Lovely imagery.

Like the metaphor of Spring as the season of healing

And Winter, the season of pain and death.
