is thought merely a gate
that opens
and allows us to step into a garden of emotions

or is thought wrapped tightly
to our feelings
when pulled, starts a motor like a lawn mower

for when there is not a thought
we are idle
the body remains at peace with its surroundings

allow me to test this
think not, then read on
take a cat, skin it, take the heart and guts out
and put its bloody remains in a pot to boil

the thought opened the door
to the emotion, disgust
while I prepare myself a catfish soup

so often we have fried/baked chicken
without the thought
of how it was raised, slaughtered, packaged
and then shipped to market

our only thought is
"damn, that chicken was good,"
more please!

so without thought
would are world be more peaceful?
or would that make us more like an animal?

controlling our thoughts
is like trying to catch a greased pig
it is better to go with the flow

like the current of a river
ride it till the end
and when ever possible, embrace
a thought

wow!

Talk about graphic thoughts and phrases :)

I love chicken, but every time I feed my finches, I feel so guilty. I believe I am om the verge of becoming a vegetarian.

I did see one word that is either cryptic or a mistake...here-

"would are world be more peaceful?"

did you mean "our"?

At any rate, even though the visuals were almost too much for me, I liked the poem. In fact, I have always enjoyed your style. Keep up the good work, but bloody, boiling guts? eeeww, lol. Oh, when you wrote, "cat" did you mean catfish? I only ask because of your later line about catfish soup.

best regards,

~ maria
