I'm slowing down
winding down
falling down
sleep awaits me but he lies just away
slender and beckoning, teasing, taunting.
I hate this game
but I must play it if I want relief
-want respite
  -want rest

He pounces on me when I want him least
He caresses me, holds me, teases me
How can something so familiar be so...
tantalizing...
so much later.
It's a love affair I can't stop...
But why do I want it to stop?
I love his soothing touch,
the way his breath carries away my wonts and
worries of the day
I love my love affair with him,
but he always seems unfaithful, flitting
from me to the next someone.
I know they need him too, but I need him.
Sometimes it feels like I'm keeping him away,
He's always seemed willing to steal away to see me...
I feel special for it, but it always carries that
sweet-sour taste of guilt. I know I should
share him.

A sigh, not quite yet tired, and he's here;
Ready to comfort me for whatever reason I feel.
His fingers are tracing lines on my back...
...Oh how I want him...
It's almost too tempting, too easy to just let him
have me. He seems to like making me beg...
but two can play that game.
I know his weaknesses, his little quirks... how to
make him beg. A quick stretch and he's allllll over me.
But not always.
We've had our petty arguments, our couples' quarrels...
and we always make nice.
I love my love affair with Sleep...

All but groping... I know he's growing incessant --
Just a little longer, please?
He never gives up.
His kisses, ever tender and soft, ever sweet,
never fail to make me close my eyes, to breathe
deep his dream-inducing scent
I can feel myself falling into his embrace, so loving
and singular.
I know he sees others, but right now I don't care
For now, I have him
He's eyes only for me and I for him
I'm swept away on his boat onto an ocean of dreams
the Moon above, never judging, always smiling
down on us.
Tonight is an eternity

A touch, a breath, and a kiss
and I'm his
I've surrendered to him on this
night, as every night...

Torrid, steamy, perfect... call it what you will
I love my love-affair
and for tonight,
he loves me too.
