Come home,
lay down your weapon,
rest.
Feel my hands upon your head.
The pure water from my chalice,
pour clean your weary soul.
The prayers of my touch upon your skin,
my body the land you fought for,
take ease, peace,
and succor in my flesh.
Sheath blade
and heart
within the safe shelter of my faith
in you.
Rest these burdens that you carry,
lay them at my feet
and place your weary head upon my lap.
Let me shelter you,
who has sheltered us all.
Pour clean your heart,
leave behind your haunting dreams.
I will guard you as you sleep
a sentinel to your peaceful slumber,
my hands the boatman’s vessel.
Let there be dark quiet
and restful homecoming.
Wake new to the world
you have made.
