written on a roll of click clack receipt paper
a poem - sort of
ungraceful bic stain blue scribble
not quite worth the oxygen and carbs
spoiled in burning fuel to tension
and making that writing motion
immediately - a sour taste
stuck to my fingertips
so impossible to resist
the impulse nagged
and I raised them to my tongue
to taste the dissonance of words
gone embarrassingly wrong
telling all - showing nothing
brown nosing every dead end rhyme
caressing every passe cliché
spilling out a mockery of soul
not me - not you - not real
still I couldn't help but feel
that yes I did I wrote I tried
it's not my fault
not entirely my blame
and since I gave it a shot
no real shame
that the poem died
hello sucky poem,
thanks for letting me write
read and be repulsed
impeccability is for the immortal
and so bloody boring
anyway
A talented poet ~ while she metaphorically beats herself about the head for lack of creative ability ~ she writes something so enjoyable. We should all be so lucky!
And then again perhaps it weren't the words
But the medium used to write on ~ register tape
Bit of a limiting factor to begin with.
sucky poem! None of my sucky poems are nearly as good as this. None of my good poems are as good as this. Can I have your trash?
...should be required reading.
saw myself, first thing I stopped doing is:
"brown nosing every dead end rhyme"
great line, almost, just almost, if I had the time
Oh crap!
i really enjoyed this. this theme is always fun to work with. i only have one suggestion. take it or leave it. but in this line:
"that yes I did I wrote I tried"
possibly commas after yes, did, wrote, tried,
or in the manner you have some of your lines set up
that yes (space) i did (space) i wrote (space) i tried.
that is all i saw. nice job.
