Air temp 46, the water about 50
It's time to close the pool
Still – every night I love to jump in
Just before sleep
The dark and the hedges make it private
I drop my wrap and stand on the edge
I tell myself I'm an idiot
Then jump in.
The water sucks the heat from my body
Toes to head as I hit bottom and crouch
Push up hard and come to the surface
And up the ladder
I dry myself quickly and not that well
Too cold, but I feel clean and good
The air actually feels warmer after the water
Stars are beautiful
The cold water and cold air on my body
Cause shrinkage where no man wants it
But there is a soft, warm body that can fix that
Waiting in our bed
