When we look upon ourselves
How critical our judgments
Pinching here, tugging there
Hold your breath, tie up your hair
Tilt your head this way and that
Look in front and quickly back
Consider wearing just a sack
Shall we go from day to day
Draping our mirrors and shying away
From any surface with a reflection
Closing your eyes, just wanting perfection
Take a magic pill, drink a secret potion
Turn about three times and click your heels
Then your true self will you reveal
No secret chant or magic pill
You must will your soul to heal
Gently mend the fractured pieces
Embrace yourself and hold on tight
It will not be an easy fight
Take each day step by step
Love yourself, and others will too
Just accept that you are you
