all ends sewn shut,
all crimes proscribed,
contagion is forbidden.
everything is sanitized.
but, on primal plains,
in mythic deserts and
wild lands lost to time,
undying women ululate
as fierce warriors ride,
and stones still ache
from the pain of birth
and the world remains
incarnadined.
