Across the distance I picture you
going about your daily life
You have your work, your kids, your wife
and yet you ache, for something more.
Here you come, and you read my words,
imagine my soul, imagine my touch--
you never meant for it to matter this much
but as the days pass, you see it does.
Each letter, each call, each small exchange
strips away pieces of your reality,
There are days when you can't seem to touch her at all,
because there are moments in which you wish it were me.
THe distance is huge, and uncrossable, you say
you tell yourself that it can never be
but as you gaze across the distance, filled with ache,
you're looking, and dreaming, and thinking of me.
