And after all is said and done
We will still stand and depart
From this lover’s bond
We once held so dear and true
To ourselves.

And after all is said and done
We will still walk past ourselves
On the street like strangers
Who we now are with not a backward glance
To ourselves.

And after all is said and done
When we hide in our now separate worlds
We will shed tears and recall laughs
Remembering those days and nights we made
To ourselves.

Another good one...

You've written a good one here, my friend! I've been here more than once, myself, and you've captured it perfectly!

and its so true. People really do that. You captured it so well, thanks.

Time was...

After all is said and done ~ will we remember - what we once had.

YDD's left a good point;

Give it a read and see for yourself;

My thought is that the way that it's done

Grates enough to support their emotional condition.

After All Is Said And Done

A simple work on a common topic

that is made more difficult/interesting(?)

to read by the structure of the poem.

Does it work?

Read it yourself and decide.
