The lack of you beside me
Is as crisp and chill
As the cold moon’s light
Glancing off the everlasting snows
In the land of my birth

I know that dawn will come
To melt this icy heart
But until your promised return
I find it most appropriate
To be under the long nights moon.

moody

With you gone ~ my mood matches the cold moon's light.

How can you not sense the feelings of loneliness here?

Very Evocative

Anyone who has experienced such a night with a full moon lighting a winter landscape would appreciate this poem. Thank you for the chance to reminisce.

long nights

indeed! I am a diurnal person but I still love the long winter nights of the north even if I don't live quite so far up there that my daylight disappears, although some days in December it seems that the sun never pierces through the clouds...

Then, it's night again,

and the moon succeeds

where the sun couldn't shine.
