Please, Father Christmas, if you come my way
Could you make this grey winter warm and bright
And give or lend, if only for a day,
Two soft, warm arms to hold me in the night,

Two shining eyes to stare into, and smile,
And one sweet, kindly mouth to rest on mine?
It might just stop my loneliness a while
And it would make all tarnished tinsel shine

And you could leave my stocking empty, then:
No costly presents could be quite as grand.
But you may feel that's wrong, and if again
My stocking's full I'll surely understand.

How telling...

...to pray for an empty stocking and full arms? 'T would be lovely if this prayer were granted, eh? :)
