all is quiet
except the noise of a radio
playing in the shade of a mango tree
the sleeping man stirring with each bout of static

i watch sweat drip
in uneven clusters
down my lovers back
salty against the tip of my tongue

we fear to touch
each caress
a reminder of the heat that engulfs us
as we lie on the cool concrete floor
