In space the stars are much closer
But sometimes the moon is the closest thing you need
And sometimes its the closest that you come

Sometimes it will be full and nothing can be better
The night skies are clear and your actions are well lit
Although folktales really aren't all that far off
And alot of times, lunacy will occur, but still things seem fine
It's because of this light that all problems seem far away

And at times it will wax and wane
Things start to look great again, or the opposite
And the devils bite dirty, you just want to be that high again
But yet you still know that the cycle is set to start all over again
As impatient as you may feel, but because of the moon, and what it resembles
As long as you can see it not far away, you'll be back there soon enough

And other times you'll find yourself on the dark side
You sit or lie like a broken cosmonaut in a room of shattered glass
Glass that came from your telescope lense, but then you realize
That glass is your dreams, hopes, and desires
So instead you look to Mars, or Jupiter, or Venus
Till you've almost gone blind, and you understand
What you've been staring at is the Morning Star in the face

Finally, all you can do is wait for the sun
And everything seems right, cause thats when you really see eye to eye with everyone else
So all you think about for awhile is going to bed early
But a night will come soon enough when you're lying awake, staring at the moon

This is one of those nights for me
I'm gazing everlong at the sky
And though the moon may be waning
I'm still a million miles high
