It seems no one particularly wants you -
though everybody always wants you to -
and certainly at times the feeling haunts you
you might be happy could you start anew

but there's no second chances once you're bound
in loyalty and duty, and you know
exactly what disasters would be found
if you cut loose the bonds that hurt you so

since love come hard. It only came to pass
that you were quite conveniently there -
now every day, reflected in your glass,
you see the ugly face of bleak despair.

You know why people jump. You've felt the hands
of desolation strengthening their hold,
and heard the rustling of life's running sands -
too well you know the story they unfold

and once you thought that suicides were fools
because they'd given up the will to fight...
But others' feelings, just like stubborn mules,
won't budge. You know why people jump alright.
